Bio: Vince D’Mello is a widely acknowledged professional and key opinion leader in the medical laboratory industry, provincially, nationally and internationally. D’Mello has more than 30 years of leadership experience with a variety of laboratory operations and meeting accreditation standards from organizations such as the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and Ontario Laboratory Accreditation (OLA) which is based on ISO 15189 requirements.

Currently D’Mello is the President of D’Mello LabMed Consultants (DLMC), an independent global company that specializes in laboratory systems, operations and strategies. He was Director of Laboratory Medicine at Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario from 2010 to 2015 with a strong track record of notable and unprecedented accomplishments.

D’Mello is the Past President of the Trillium Chapter of the CLMA. During his term the Trillium
Chapter was internationally acclaimed by winning the prestigious “Chapter of the Year Award”. In 2009 he was the recipient of the A.R. Shearer “Pride of the Profession Award” from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). In 2014 he received the CLMA Pre-analytical Excellence award sponsored by BD Canada for an unprecedented study conducted at Grand River Hospital.

D’Mello obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and his initial medical laboratory training and certification in England. He holds certification from the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science. He has completed Executive Management training certification from the University of Notre Dame (Indiana) and the Schulich School of Business, York University (Toronto).
