Bio: Tania Motschman is the Associate Vice President and Quality Director for the Esoteric Business Unit of Laboratory Corporation of America. With over 45 years of laboratory and healthcare administration experience from generalist in a small community hospital to a specialist in large blood banks and transfusion services, Motschman’s primary focus for the last 30 years has been quality and regulatory management for large clinical diagnostic and commercial referral laboratories.

Motschman has served as Chair of the AABB Quality Management Standards Committee and the Quality Management Accreditation Committee. She is currently a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the Healthcare Technical Committee. Motschman chairs the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) Expert Panel on Quality Management Systems and is a member of the CLSI Nominating Committee. She also chaired the CLSI workgroups to revise The Key to Quality, a workbook on how to implement a quality management system in laboratory services, and helped design the ASQ hospital-based quality management system model for healthcare.

Motschman has been honored with CLSI’s awards for excellence in mentoring and in standards development. For more than 35 years, she has performed inspections for the College of American Pathologists and assessments for the AABB. She has published numerous scientific papers, quality articles, consensus documents, and co-authored five books on quality and regulatory topics.
