Lesley Wright
Bio: Lesley Wright is the Programme Director for Diagnostics, NHS Improving Quality, a NHS-funded national improvement organization. Her role is to provide clinical and managerial expertise in improvement methodology by supporting teams to deliver sustainable improvement and to demonstrate the impact of improvements in the diagnostics field and across the wider healthcare community.
Her work in pathology improvement has been to develop the ‘proof of concept’ of Lean Six Sigma in all the main disciplines in laboratory medicine by working with multiple organizations to achieve improvements at a national scale. Wright’s most recent work has been to link leadership training with continuous quality improvement training, establish ‘exemplar services’ aligned to the SHINGO model of Operational Excellence, and support diagnostics teams to reduce length-of-stay, prevent admissions, and assist emergency care targets. Trained as a Black Belt in Six Sigma, she has worked with clinical teams in pathology, imaging, inpatient flows, and whole clinical pathways. She has published a number of documents on pathology improvement, written several Lean articles, and spoken at national and international Lean health forums.
