Bio: Jean Hammelev is the Vice President of the Quality and Program Management Office (PMO), for Sonora Quest Laboratories, LLC (SQL), a joint venture between Quest Diagnostics (a Fortune 500 company) and Banner Health (the largest non-secular health delivery system in the United States) and for Laboratory Sciences of Arizona, LLC (LSA), which manages the 13 hospital laboratories supporting 15 Banner Health hospital and academic medical centers in Arizona.
Hammelev has been with LSA/SQL for 26 years and has been a member of the senior leadership team since 2000. Promoted to Vice President in 2015, her responsibilities include oversight of the strategic planning process, quality management, quality improvement (Six Sigma/Lean), and project management functions. In 2010, Hammelev designed and implemented the company’s PMO, which oversaw the 2014 SQL LIS implementation.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in cytotechnology from the University Of North Dakota School Of Medicine and Health Sciences, Grand Forks, and a Master of Business Administration – Health Care Management from the University of Phoenix. She is a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award alumni examiner and serves as Chairman of the Board for the Southwest Alliance for Excellence, the Arizona-based Baldrige Award entity. A member of ASCP, and senior member of the American Society for Quality, Hammelev is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. In 2013, she was recognized by the Phoenix Business Journal as one of the “Top 25 Dynamic Women in Business.”
