Alastair Dunnett
Bio: Alastair Dunnett is Director of Laboratory Services at Carle Foundation Hospital, founded in 1918. With more than 500 physicians and APPs and 7,500 employees serving a community of 1.4 million in East Central Illinois, Carle operates three hospitals and partners with several affiliated hospitals in the region. They also manage numerous group practices and convenient care locations in the area. The automated core laboratory, run by Dunnett, performs more than three million tests each year.Dunnett started in laboratory in the late 80’s, training in all areas of the lab at the George Eliot Hospital in the Midlands, England. He moved to the United States in 1998 and has worked in Texas, Indiana, and, most recently, Illinois. He has worked in a variety of roles within the lab and was trained in both laboratory science and information systems.Dunnett formerly worked as a consultant for an LIS vendor, working with labs in England, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. Over the years, he has served on lab advisory panels for point-of-care and instrument informatics, supply chain contracting, lab equipment selection, and lab architectural design.
